Meet Laura

I’ve been teaching yoga and mindfulness for over 20 years - but honestly? My biggest lessons didn’t come from trainings. They came from life.

From burnout. From saying yes too long. From finally saying no more.

I know what it’s like to feel stuck in a life that looks fine from the outside but quietly drains the life out of you. I’ve felt the slow fade of losing yourself. And I also know what it takes to come back - to rebuild, reconnect, and create something new.

My path hasn’t been linear (whose is?). I’ve been a competitive athlete, a national swim coach, a single mom, a philosophy nerd, a spiritual seeker - and for a while, I lost sight of everything that mattered. I got caught in a world that rewarded pushing, performing, and pretending. I forgot what it felt like to breathe deeply, to feel grounded, to trust my own spirit.

Coming back to myself wasn’t instant. It was a choice I had to make—again and again. But it changed everything.

I’ve trained in all the things: hatha, vinyasa, restorative, trauma-aware yoga, somatic healing, meditation, mindfulness, Chinese medicine, and even shamanic practices. But the most important thing I bring is presence. No pedestals. No pretending. Just real respect for wherever you are, and a steady hand to walk with you from there.

Beyond the Bend Yoga is about coming home to yourself. Slowing down. Tuning in. Letting go of all the “shoulds” and finding what actually feels true. There’s no gold star here. No final destination. Just a quiet, powerful reminder:

You’re not broken. You’re becoming.

You’re welcome here - just as you are.

The Heart Behind Beyond the Bend

I see it every time. A woman finishes class - soft, grounded, and fully in her body. Her whole face changes. There’s a glow. A calm. A sense of finally feeling like herself again.

And then, before she even gets off the mat ,I see the shift start to creep back in.

The to-do lists. The noise. The tension. The look that says, "Here comes real life."

That’s why I created Beyond the Bend. Not just as a class, but as a way to stay connected to that calm, even after the mat is rolled up and the emails start rolling in.

Whether it’s through our on-demand library, a little check-in from me, or a guided moment of pause when you need it most - this space is here to support your nervous system, your peace, and your actual life.

You’re never alone in this. You can always come back to your center.

And when you need it, I’ll be right here, cheering you on (and probably reminding you to breathe).

Our Classes and Community

All classes are held at the beautiful Rising Moon Studio, and it is this quiet, nature-wrapped sanctuary that makes the experience so deeply inviting. A glowing fireplace anchors the space, adding warmth, stillness, and a sense of being held from the moment you arrive.

The studio itself encourages you to slow down, soften, and arrive fully, just as you are. These in-person gatherings offer time to breathe and reconnect with yourself in the company of others doing the same. The room is warm and welcoming, designed to feel like a pause from the world rather than another thing to keep up with.

Each class is also thoughtfully filmed, allowing you to join online if you are unable to attend in person. Whether you are practicing in the studio or from your own home, you are part of the same gentle and supportive community, moving and breathing together.

Offerings include vinyasa yoga, somatic vinyasa, restorative yoga, and gentle yoga. These classes are not about performance or perfection. They are about listening, responding, and cultivating trust in your own body.

This is a space to land, to belong, and to remember yourself.

These experiences offer a chance to slow down, reflect, and reconnect to your inner calm - with longer programs providing additional ongoing tools and support to help you carry that steady, grounded feeling into everyday life.Throughout the year, Beyond the Bend Yoga offers special workshops held at Rising Moon Studio and guided by Laura, often in collaboration with other practitioners who bring their own beautiful and complementary offerings into the space.

These workshops are opportunities to slow down, explore, and deepen your connection to body, mind, and spirit through shared experience. Each gathering is thoughtfully curated and may blend yoga with other healing or reflective modalities, creating something unique, nourishing, and gently transformative.

New workshops unfold organically and are offered as they arise. You are warmly invited to keep your eyes and heart open for what is coming next.
